I'M SARAH
I am a wife, a mother of three, and a second-generation bed and breakfast owner. My husband Steven is a realtor and a recovering former restaurateur, third generation. (IYKYK) We own and operate a small, two-suite bed and breakfast from our home in Louisiana.
In addition to being a small business owner, I am also a marketing and public relations professional with 13+ years of experience working with local and national clients in nearly every industry. The Essential Hospitality Guide marries my two passions - hospitality and marketing - into a tool that helps others confidently develop, operate and market their own small business, all on their own terms.
OUR STORY
Our little B&B was the catalyst that got my husband and out of the rat race and allowed us to create a life we love. We've seen this business model be life-changing for friends and family members we've worked with, and we believe it can do the same thing for so many others!
Over the past 8 years, it has far exceeded our wildest expectations, winning numerous awards, including the Louisiana Travel Association's Bed and Breakfast of the Year. Talk about grateful!
But we're not your typical bed and breakfast experience. When we opened, we were both still working full time (and then some), commuting an hour from home, and raising two kids under the age of two. Since our time was limited, and our business was located within our home (were not willing to sacrifice our privacy), we had to get creative with our space and operational model. If I've learned one thing in this business, it's that there are no rules. If you think outside the box, you can create something that works for your lifestyle, and still provide a beautiful experience for your guests. It just might be much simpler than you think!
